Beginnings...

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Kori and I'm so thrilled that you have stumbled into my little project space!

When my husband Paul and I decided to build a home together, we knew that this was going to be an incredible experience. An incredible....frustrating...exciting...palm-to-forehead-slapping...high-fiving experience. Naturally, it seemed only fitting that we'd want to share all of this with our family, friends and even complete strangers!

But I think I'm getting ahead of myself. I should probably tell you a little more about us before you just go blindly reading away about ANOTHER couple that think they can build a house...

We are Paul and Kori Roney; husband and wife of almost 2 years, and proud parents to 2 fur-babies. College football rivals (if you can call what happened between Georgia Southern and Florida in 2013 a rivalry...), Braves fanatics, and lovers of home improvement projects.

We both come from strong service industry backgrounds, but Paul ended up going to work for one of my best friends at his home construction company back in 2013. **you'll get to know Josh really well on this site. And I ended up going to work with Josh's dad for a heating and air company. It's funny how things work out sometimes.

We know Paul builds houses, but where do I fit into all of this?

Besides being an avid DIY-er and priding myself on being more than a little proficient in Pinterest; I used to be a writer. **used to be? are you ever technically NOT one?

With that in mind, I thought I'd flex those writing muscles and put that Georgia Southern degree to use to create a blog around this build. **and ok, you know I'm Pinteresting the crap out of some master closet pins...

What makes our marriage work is that Paul and I operate at a dizzying pace. Often times, we are doing three or four home improvement projects at any given time while maintaining social and professional lives. We truly enjoy burning the candle at both ends with each other and squeeze every bit of life that can be experienced with every new sunrise. **consequently, some days we both crash hard and end up binge watching The Office on Netflix for 14 hours straight... It is this passion that we have to make beautiful things together that interested us in taking this huge step and daring to do what many would find daunting. Unless you are an avid HGTV binge watcher, then you of course know everything about building a house; right? **Paul and every general contractor out there just rolled their eyes.**

With that being said, I invite you to join us as we embark on this adventure together. There will be laughs and there will be tears (oh so many) and I can guarantee you that I will hurt myself at least 5 times, as I have never visited Paul at a jobsite and not come away with some sort of bruise to my body or my ego (mostly my body though). We'll learn a lot together and hopefully this blog will help anyone out there that is thinking of tackling a home build. I promise not to sugar coat or romanticize the process, because I know that even Joanna Gaines has days that aren't all chippy shiplap and cupcakes. **Us normals out there are simply a cut above doomed... But we're gonna try!

So, grab a bourbon, because this build is going to be one helluva bumpy, beautiful ride.
